making jumps: how big of holes should I drill to fit the jump cups?

trying to figure out what size to drill. i don’t have the cups yet, but i ordered them. is there just a size you should drill that will fit all jump cup pins? i found a site that said 1/2″, but wouldn’t that be too big? i’m not sure. if you need it, i can give u the link of the cups that I ordered. thanks!

1/2″ is a good size. That’s how big I made mine, and they look just like the holes in professionally made jump standards. You don’t need (or want) a very snug fit or it would be too hard to readjust the cups.

Jump pins ARE about the size of a pencil, or maybe just slightly bigger.
