is red mulch an acceptable outdoor kennel bedding for dogs?

Assuming red mulch is some form of wood shaving, you can use it EXCEPT around pregnant or newborn animals. Shavings can carry potentially fatal bacteria that’s in the wood before it’s processed that can affect both mom and pups.

Even though the shavings are only bad in the above circumstances, why not give them a proper bedding that can go in a washing machine – blankets or washable padding of some kind?
