Treats Chew
my guinea pig chews on everything BUT his chew sticks and chew treats?
what should i do ? he chews on his house, his cage and everything else but his wooden blocks or vitamin blocks.. im a afraid the plastic might hurt his teeth… i rarely see him chew on anything else !
i give him timothy hay every day, like one or two handfulls.. and 2 small pieces of carrots every day or everyother day… he loves those things.
My pig doesn’t like to chew on anything but his food. I have found a couple things that help. Compressed hay blocks, vegetarian dog biscuits ( I hold it for him to chew on for a few minutes, sometimes these have sweeteners, so try to either limit the use or find one with less sugars), hard treats like the ones that look like puffy cheetos but are hard and made of carrot and corn meal, and keep up with chewy fresh foods like those carrots, a bit of apple or orange a couple times a week, bell pepper and such foods, but if you want to try celery, remove the “strings” as they can wad up in the gut and kill your little buddy.
I think those edible green dog bones could work as well. They are kind of plastic in nature, just be sure that they are vegetarian, and monitor your pig when trying anything new.
